We would like to invite you to our 8th ‘Utrecht Sessions’ on congenital heart disease, which will take place on February 2nd – 4th, 2023 at the UMC Utrecht/Wilhelmina Children’s Hospital, The Netherlands.
After last year’s highly successful conference on Aortic Anamalies, we will focus on the state-of-the-art management of patients with hypoplastic left heart syndrome. Our multidisciplinary concept will cover the entire spectrum from fetal diagnostics to stage I palliation. Your are welcome to attend and share your experience with all professionals being involved in HLHS care.
The main topics will be:
Pathology and embryology of hypoplastic left heart syndrome
Imaging: from fetal echo to advanced MRI and CT
Surgical strategies: Norwood versus Hybrid palliation
Early shunt stenosis and pulmonary artery stenosis
Neo-aortic arch stenosis: surgical strategies and decision making
Brain protection and neuro monitoring in stage I palliation
Peri-operative management of single ventricle patients in ICU

Utrecht tourguide
Utrecht is the beating heart of the Netherlands. A city with an unparalleled vitality. A medieval city centre small enough to explore on foot. Large enough to enjoy world class festivals, modern architecture, trendy shops and interesting museums for days on end.
If you really want to get to know Utrecht, then just stay for the night. Because once night falls, Utrecht turns into a beautifully lighted city. Monuments that were worth the trip during the day are all the more beautiful at night with the magic play of light along the Trajectum Lumen art route. Lanterns shine along the canals and it gets even cosier in the snug cafés.

Location
The Center for Congenital Heart Defects is part of the University Medical Center in Utrecht and offers the widest possible range of diagnostic procedures and treatment for congenital heart defects, for children and adults. Children are treated at the Wilhelmina Children’s Hospital (WKZ); adult patient (Grown Ups with Congenital Heart disease, or GUCH) at the UMC Utrecht. The two locations are directly linked and collaborate intensively at the UMC Utrecht Center for Congenital Heart Defects. In recent years, we have worked intensively with our important partners to develop top-of-the range diagnostic processes, care, treatment and research.
